Root Canal

Root canal treatments are recommended when the decay reaches the nerve of the tooth causing infection of the nerve and surrounding tooth structures.

Typical signs of an infected tooth include among others:

  • Severe pain

  • Swelling

  • Pain increases when bending forward or lying on the side of the offended tooth.

Root canal treatment is done by gaining access to the nerve through  an access opening, removing the nerve from inside, shaping the canals using specific  instruments and finally filling the canals with a special filling material.

Typically teeth treated with root canal treatment are fragile and a crown is always recommended as a mean of protection.
