Amalgam and composite restorations

Caries in teeth is an ongoing process that does not stop by itself unless some measures are taken out.

  • When caries is confined to the enamel, it is left to watch

  • When it reaches the dentin , which is the second tooth layer, it has to be removed as it is an active process and replaced by a restoration commonly known as dental filling

  • If decay is left untreated, it reaches the nerve of the tooth, a condition that is very painful, a root canal treatment is recommended.
